We had zero issues printing because I was on top of that. It gave me plenty of time to research how to install printers post printnightmare patches. In addition, when a new Windows version comes out, I check to see if there are any issues with it before releasing it to my clients.

Although I tend to give the previews a miss. Because of WSUS, we do have almost nil issues with updates. The only real issue we had was with updating some older laptops to W10 and then we discovered we needed more Ram and SSD drives to make Windows move at an acceptable speed.

The one problem that has cropped up recently is Microsoft in their wisdom have decided that only Office updates will be managed via their CDN and not through updates anymore! I am convinced that this is what borked a laptop recently as no WSUS were deployed around that time so must have been an Office update.

I have no idea why Office gets this special treatment! It is really stupid because the whole point of WSUS is to manage updates for the entire network. Now if they did that with Malicious software removal and windows defender updates that would make more sense. But that bizarrely still goes through WSUS. I suspect WSUS will become less relevant for Microsoft as they're trying to push people to Intune for updates which is a subscription product, so generates income, whereas WSUS is free.

So someone has allegedly detected an exo-planet orbiting a star in another Galaxy 28 million light-years away but it cannot be verified for 70 years? Well that's convenient. Possibly, but you would think that they would start with Office first as that is already subscription based. It makes no sense to single out Office You're kidding. A company pushing one of their pay-for products over their free-to-use products to increase their revenue is unthinkable, unheard of!

Sorry, but I can't let that go. Not updating Windows is how botnets happen, and how ransomware happens. I realise that what I posted was a bit misleading. My question some years ago, was not about whether to update Windows or not, but whether it made sense to update it every Tuesday as Microsoft updates seem to cause more problems than it solves. I do believe that updating windows is important, but I don't believe that it makes sense to update every week unless it is something critical.
