Whether you just want a good meal, a fun game night, or a little of both, we want to provide you with the space to be truly together with the people you love. Frequent guests should talk to us about becoming a supporting member to have fees waived. We hold a weekly game night at Great Oaks Tavern, our new board game pub, every Tuesday.

This fee helps Great Oaks Tavern maintain the large number of rare and designer board games in their collection. We cordially invite you to join us for our new monthly night of murder, mayhem and mystery!

It has a decent play area. It has a regular Magic the Gathering and Pokemon play groups as I understand it and of course miniature play groups. If MtG or miniatures are your thing, then check them out. They also have plastic models and supplies, one of the only choices for that sort of thing in the area that I know of.

Edit to add a small aside, one of the few places in the area to actually pick up plastic model kits. Since I originally made this post back in April of this edit May , they have expanded their boardgame selection. Had a large selection of board games, fair selection of miniatures, and a small play area that will serve well for most groups hitting the store. They have regular groups there. So far as I know, none of the local Meetup groups use it which is a bit of a shame.

This location seems gone…. They also have new and used video games I believe you can rent games to play in store. Good play area too. Primary mission seems to be to keep kids off the streets and give them a place to go and have fun and play MtG.

So for Magic players it might be worth checking out. Gaming Grounds Facebook page in Kent map. Small selection of board games, decent selection of minitures and supplies. Large selection of RPG material, including used books. Sort of an odd out out of the way place semi-residential , and the only real negative is the limited parking. Regular events, and a regular Meetup meets there.

Dominion is a staple of Euro-style board gamers; it is a deck building game that can be played with people and is fairly easy to learn. So AsoBrain has developed online versions of some Eurogames that probably will seem very familiar, though they are not official licensed versions. Xplorers involves four players settling an island with various resources that can be traded between players. Toulouse involves laying tiles to create cities and farms that are then populated by meeple.

I have been playing on this site for nearly 15 years now; there are a few hoops to jump through, but it is worth it. To play, you will need to download Java on your computer, and register with a limited domain email address use your college email; accounts like gmail and yahoo are not allowed to prevent banned players re-registering.

The site allows you to make games for friends only, play with strangers even ranked games , or play against bots that are named after Friends characters I beat Ross all the time.

These are the games that Americans of my generation grew up with. But that only scratches the surface of the current state of board games. But there are such a variety of fun games out there, it is easy to find something you like to play with your spouse, grandmother, or a group of friends. They have all different fun themes, and some are for groups, some are cooperative, some are card-drafting, etc.
